Terrazzo Coaster Casting Workshop | London | Urban Village Fete
A 1.5 - 2 hour casting workshop taking place during Urban Village Fete on Greenwich Peninsula on the 19th May. We will be running two workshop during the day, a morning session starting at 11:30am and an afternoon session starting at 3.00pm. During the workshop you will learn the basics of casting with Jesmonite and create a set of your own terrazzo tiles.
What you will do
During the workshop you will design your colour palette, learn how to mix and add pigment to Jesmonite, learn how to cast into a silicone mould and finally how to sand and finish your tile.
Because the materials we are working with will need some time to set, there will be some natural breaks during the session where
We will primarily work with Jesmonite, which is a gypsum based resin. It is non-toxic with no VOC’s. We will also use some water based pigments and a wax for finishing.
By the end of the workshop you will take home two finished tiles. If you would like to use these as coasters, we will provide some felt pads for the bottoms.
Because of the time restraints of the workshop we will finish your coasters with a wax, this adds a light layer of protection and a really lovely finish, but is not as resistant to coffee or wine stains as other sealers.
Morning Workshop: 11:30 - 13:00/ 13.30
Afternoon Workshop: 15:00 - 16:30/17:00
